Professional Standard White Acrylic Film
Slate with B&W Sticks
This is the industry standard for a
long-lasting, hard working slate.
The acrylic is rounded on all edges so it won't cut your hands. The
1" thick sticks are painted in wrap-around B&W stripes. The
bracket is tension-adjustable. There are magnets in the tips of the
sticks to ensure a definate close. We screen the board with
solvent-resistant ink so the printing will last. Uses a dry-erase
marker.
These slates measure 11" wide by 9 1/2" tall, and fits in
all frontboxes.
The sticks are slightly thinner than the B&W. The oak is stained and sealed and the stripes are white paint.
Folks like the yellow slate for B or C camera, or simply because the yellow has less tendency to blow out in overexposure - making the editor's life a bit easier in both cases.
The board is actual chalkboard (painted masonite). Uses regular chalk.
The layout is engraved into the board and filled with black ink so it won't degrade with use.

stripes in the basic Kodak colors.
The layout is engraved. The
reverse side of the sticks is solid photo-gray.
Gray Scale Laminate Slate with Engraved

This slate is the choice of DP's who
do not want colors on the slate that might confuse the timer or
transfer operator.
The reverse side of the sticks is solid
photo-gray.
The layout is silkscreened on both sides of this board - white acrylic on one side and black chalkboard on the other. The slate is not translucent - but it gives you the option of working in either format, chalk or dry-erase marker. (Please note the chalkboard side cannot be engraved.)

Your choice of three colors: Blue, Yellow/Green or Yellow/Red.
The sticks have wrap-around stripes and magnets.

The Yellow/Red is very popular to use for nite work, or in situations where the sticks need to stand out.
Hot Pink is discontinued.
This is used for special productions where you want to feature the talent on the slate, or to give as a special occasion gift or trophy.
Very popular for special recognition awards.
Shooting on tape is supposedly cheaper than film, and this slate is cheaper too.
It doesn't have sticks, but on tape you don't need them..... do you?
The AUDIO area is detailed for professional shooting,
and there is a black/60% gray/white scale on the bottom that gives an accurate stair-step on a waveform scope.

Chalkboard Economy Slates

Chalkboard slates for the film student, as a gift for a Hollywoodphile, or just fun decoration.
These slates are completely professional and functional.
Plastic brackets, no magnets and thinner profile sticks.
Our bases are solid pine painted black, with a handsome routed top edge, and felt feet.
The slot has a slight angle to it so the slate will tip back for stability and be easily read.
Dry Erase Marker - $2
We currently recommend Marks-A-Lot
brand dry-erase markers.
These markers are readily available at most
office supply stores.
(Some other markers, such as the evil Sanford
EXPO, will stain the boards.)
